The weather was dry and the course was presented in first class condition with almost no wind to challenge us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We played in 6 teams of three with a competitive 17% of the combined handicaps to even things up off the yellow tees where par for the course is 69.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning team was <strong>John McCabe, Dave Cousins and Mark Jones<\/strong> with a very good net score of 60.2 and scoring gross 36 shots (35 par) going out and 31 (34 par) on the back nine including 4 birdies and just 2 bogies gross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0place was Barry Tabor, Tarlock Bhambra &amp; David Green with a net score of 66.5 and in 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0place was Richard, Steve &amp; Matt with a net score of 67.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matt also won the Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin \u2013 well done Matt!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately Tom, Mick &amp; Dean were disqualified for playing the ninth hole twice instead of the eighteenth and Adrian gets the wooden spoon for going AWOL (having the wrong day in his diary?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A special note of thanks goes to the organiser, our vice-captain Chris Swales, who did a fantastic job and made it an event to remember in the Hursley Golf Society\u2019s varied Calendar for 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A spirited eighteen turned out for the lively 50th&nbsp;Anniversary Plate, Texas Scramble at Alresford yesterday afternoon.
