The peculiar charm of the Bibury and the splendour of the Cathedral course make this one of the best events in out calendar, the course was in excellent conditions with well tees and fariways and true running greens. The views from the top of course over Salisbury as stunning as ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the morning we contested the Spitfire Cup, a Stableford competition over 9 holes on the Bibury course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1st&nbsp;place &#8211; 17 points&nbsp;&#8211; Adrian Crossley (countback)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2nd&nbsp;place &#8211; 17 points &#8211; Dave Green<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;hole we played nearest the pin in two which was won by Stu Keen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon we contested WSDL Cup, a Stableford competition over 18 holes on the Cathedral course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;place &#8211; 39 (!) points &#8211; Simon Nash<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;place &#8211; 35 points &#8211; Richard Selby<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;hole we played Nearest the Pin, which was won by Steve Elliott<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;hole we played Longest Drive, which was won by Dave Cousins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Worldmark Trophy was awarded for the best combined score for both morning and afternoon competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1st&nbsp;place &#8211; 50 points &#8211; Chris Swales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2nd\u00a0place &#8211; 48 points &#8211; Dave Cousins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which left us only with the&nbsp;<s>Golden Fleece<\/s>&nbsp;Presidents Putter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;place &#8211; 43 putts Barry Tabor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Joint 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;&#8211; 45 putts &#8211; Dave Cousins and Mark Jones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to all who attended and to Steve for organising a very enjoyable day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite a dodgy forecast for Salisbury on 3rd&nbsp;July we hardly had a drop of rain while we battled it out for a myriad of trophies.
