It was the first time I believe the society has been to Leckford, we certainly haven’t been there in my time with the society.
The weather was … windy .. A dry day, plenty of sunshine, but blowing a hooley and the scores reflected that with no-one getting above 29 points.
The course itself was in nice condition, plenty of grass on the fairways. The greens were on the small side, but firm making holding the greens downwind very testing.
They also had testing subtle breaks adding to the scoring difficulty.
So to the results.
The winner was Graham Burrows on count back from second place Adrian Crossley, both at 29 points. Graham will be docked one shot for his efforts for the rest of the season – hardly seem fair does it? 🙂
I somehow managed to scrape up enough points to come in third with 28 points.
Long drive was won by Graham Like and Simon Nash was one of the few that managed to hit the green on the 9th/18th taking the nearest the pin prize.
One issue I’d like to raise. If you have any special requests about who you’d prefer to play with or if you need to get off early, please let the organiser know as soon as possible before the draw sheet is compiled.
There was some reorganisation on the tee between some groups which unfortunately led to a group being stranded at the back of the field and the other members waiting for over 40 minutes in the bar.
Please do not change the groupings after the start sheet has been issued. There are reasons why the groups are made and we should not just sort it out by ourselves on the first tee.
The next event is Newbury & Crookham for the 50th Anniversary Plate. Please try and attend as it’s a cracking venue and great value.
The champion golfer table currently shows Graham Like still on top, closely followed by Graham Burrows after his win.
