As its name suggests, this competition (which can be either Medal or Stableford depending on the
organiser) involves each player having pre-cut lengths of string. At any time, an individual may choose
to move his/her ball in any direction, without penalty, by a distance not greater than the remaining lengths
of the string. More than one length can be used at once, but once used, cannot be used again.
This use is not restricted in any way an in particular, it can be used to:
- Get out of a hazard without penalty
- Hole a putt
- Move back onto the course from out-of-bounds (if you are close enough!)
There will be lengths of 3,6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 inches.
The winner is the player with the best score – the length of string remaining
is irrelevant – so use it wisely!
