As far a I can remember this is the first event of the season that our honourable Captain hasn’t been able to make, but I think it’s only fair that we allow him a family holiday. Despite this though the weather was fair (no rain) but obviously not a sunny as we are used too.
There were fun and games for some getting to Corhampton as the date just happened to coincide with the start of Boomtown and all roads around Winchester were at a standstill. When we got there though Corhampton was in lovely condition especially the greens which were lush, true and in perfect condition, even the fairways had some colour to them too, which is somewhat of a novelty this year!
We ended up with 20 players, including three guests, so a good turnout playing for the Hursley cup and, although the scoring was generally below our best, as usual some coped better than others.
The prize giving ceremony was attended by everyone but was less exciting than usual due the lack of jeopardy caused by Dean’s dodgy leaderboard stand. There were countbacks between 3rd and 4th places (I must remember my glasses in future !) with Phil Blake retaining the Hursley Cup for a second year.
We had a brief check of the top placings of the Champion Golfer and Clubman leaderboards, but I had to send the details of this event off to Dean for him to work out the standings post Corhampton.
