Wilts is the word. A very hot day, which took its toll on those bravely walking. The course was in superb condition. The fairways and greens were impeccable.
With several competitions up for grabs, we had a keen field of 17 players (with 2 sets of half-dayers).
Nearest the pin was played for on the 8th green on both morning and afternoon rounds. Dave Cousins took the accolade in the morning, Mark Jones was nearest in the afternoon.
In the morning, the Longest Drive on the 9th was won by Chris Swales. The afternoon LD on the 10th was won by Tom Sturley.
The morning comp for Pam’s Platter was claimed by Simon Nash with an impressive 36 points. Runner Up, Adrian Crossley (34 points) took home a nice bottle of red for his efforts.
The afternoon round was played for the WSDL Cup. The winner was Paul Brent with 35 points. Runner up was Steve Elliott with 34 points.
The President’s Putter goes to the player with the lowest number of putts over both rounds. Steve Elliott won with an amazing total of 57 putts.
And finally, The WorldMark Trophy, which was offered to the player with the best stableford score over both rounds. With two impressive and consistent rounds, Rich Selby scooped the first prize with a total of 75 points. Steve Elliott came second with a total of 67 points.
S&SW Club looked after us well and fed us some great food, including a good show for our Vegan member.
All in all, another excellent day out at S&SW. I can’t wait for next year, to visit again.
