Salisbury and South Wiltshire

Despite a dodgy forecast for Salisbury on 3rd July we hardly had a drop of rain while we battled it out for a myriad of trophies. The peculiar charm of the Bibury and the splendour of the Cathedral course make this one of the best events in out calendar, the course was in excellent conditions with well tees and fariways and true running greens. The views from the top of course over Salisbury as stunning as ever.

In the morning we contested the Spitfire Cup, a Stableford competition over 9 holes on the Bibury course.

  • 1st place – 17 points – Adrian Crossley (countback)
  • 2nd place – 17 points – Dave Green

On the 8th hole we played nearest the pin in two which was won by Stu Keen

In the afternoon we contested WSDL Cup, a Stableford competition over 18 holes on the Cathedral course.

  • 1st place – 39 (!) points – Simon Nash
  • 2nd place – 35 points – Richard Selby

On the 8th hole we played Nearest the Pin, which was won by Steve Elliott

On the 10th hole we played Longest Drive, which was won by Dave Cousins

The Worldmark Trophy was awarded for the best combined score for both morning and afternoon competitions.

  • 1st place – 50 points – Chris Swales
  • 2nd place – 48 points – Dave Cousins

Which left us only with the Golden Fleece Presidents Putter

  • 1st place – 43 putts Barry Tabor
  • Joint 2nd – 45 putts – Dave Cousins and Mark Jones

Many thanks to all who attended and to Steve for organising a very enjoyable day.
