A cold but dry day at Test valley for our first event of the season, always a welcoming greeting from Test valley and they were as always very helpful on arrival 14 members attended having lost a couple before hand . Hope you are better Dave Imeson.
The course was undergoing a lot of work on front 9 with many bunkers out of action but the greens were very slick and fast was the agreed consensus.
I know I struggled and had as many putts as I can remember past the hole and putts coming back.
14 valiant souls battled and we welcomed new member Steve Stuchbury who I had the pleasure of playing with in my group – Steve’s short game was superb and saw him amass 40 points off a handicap of 11beating John Ferris on countback.
Chris Swales pipped the captain on countback with 36 points to finish 3rd well played Chris. Chris was also awarded the Winter knockout shield after beating Steve Elliott in the final.
Looking forward to our next event at South Winchester on 20th April. See you there, Paul Brent
