As we set out on Tuesday afternoon it felt like a spring day for the Spring Cup; light drizzle, sun peeking through the cloud, grass being cut, extra layers coming off and the ball bouncing along. As the round evolved the seasons went into reverse ! Heavier rain, cold wind, layers back on, knuckling down and sticking to the golfing task. We were on the hunt for a gritty golfer to hold it together for a full 18 holes in challenging conditions.
The spot prizes were won by John Taylor (nearest the pin) and John Hartley (longest drive)
The results for the main event were:
- 3rd place – 34 points – Andy King
- 2nd place – 35 points – Paul Brent
- 1st place – 36 points – John Taylor
Pro-tip: when we were hunting for a gritty golfer at Corhampton, it was also John Taylor … sparking up a chat about playing in the rain might pay dividends.
Thanks to Nigel for organising a very smoothly run and enjoyable event.
