Brokenhurst Manor – Captains Cup

On 30th May we found Brockenhurst in excellent condition, still one of Hampshires finest courses. The weather held on the day, there was rain for the first few groups early on and then it was mostly cloudy with the odd burst of sunshine for the rest of a very enjoyable day.

In the morning we played three competitions simultaneously and the results were as follow:

The Captain’s Cup – medal competition of full handicap.

3rd place – 74 – Dave Cousins

2nd place – 73 – Stuart Nielson

1st place – 71 – Steve Jenkins

Scratch Cup – the player with the lowest gross score.

3rd place – 87 – John McCabe

2nd place – 84 – Stuart Nielson

1st place – 84 – Dave Cousins

Bandit’s Bowl – stableford competition for players with a handicap of 19 or over.

3rd place – 30 points – John Ferris

2nd place – 32 points – Steve Jenkins

1st place – 33 points – Chris Swales

In the afternoon we played a texas scramble for the Loving Cup, with nearest the pin on all par 3’s and longest drive at the 16th.

The nearest the pin prizes were won by Mick Quigley, Adrian Crossley, Stuart Nielson and one more person I can’t remember – apologies again for that.

The longest drive was won by Mark Jones

The results for the Loving Cup were:

3rd place – 64 – Stuart Nielson, John Kind, Tarlok Bhambra

2nd place – 64 – Adrian Crossley, Steve Elliott, Stuart Keen

1st place – 59 points – John McCabe, Mark Jones, Dave Cousins

Which left us with only the captains drive, which was 194 paces … Won by Steve Taylor who had guessed 195.

Many thanks to all who attended, its awesome to see the events being well attended. Many thanks to Nigel for organising, this is one of the toughest ones to organise because of the different formats in the morning and afternoon, three meals and a captains drive and it went off without a hitch.
