We’d had all sorts of weather leading up to our visit to Newbury and Crookham. Sun at the weekend, rain on the Monday and a little rain with a cold breeze on arrival had me confused about whether to take the woolly hat or the summer cap, a puzzle that pales into insignificance next to setting up a scramble for teams of different sizes. We got ourselves organised in the nick of time and out onto a wonderful course in fine condition, the par 3 third hole with a big drop down onto the green and the view back from the seventeenth green to the tee, the 16th green and the racecourse were outstanding.
Both spot prizes were won by newcomer Stuart Nielsson.
The results for the main event were:
3rd place – 63 – Chris Swales, Steve Taylor, Steve Jenkins
2nd place – 60 – Phil Blake, David Green, John Ferris, Mike Sibley
1st place – 58 – John McCabe, Matt Kockott, Mark Jones
Many thanks to all who attended and thanks to Dean for organising very enjoyable event and for coping with a few team changes, road closure notices and handicap adjustments.
