On the 10th October HGS went to Alresford for 36 holes of Matchplay golf.
We finally hit lucky with the weather, I wasn’t hit by a single drop of rain and in the afternoon the course was dappled with sunlight through the autumnal coloured leaves. The chalk course had held up wonderfully to all the rain that we’ve had and we were treated to some excellent catering, with the bacon sandwiches in particular setting a new bench mark.
The match result was 9 – 7 to the Vice Captain, we had a way lined up to work out a winner for Match 5 courtesy of Richard Jackman, which we were close to needing but the result of Match 15 took the Vice to the 8.5 points needed so I’ve scored that at 0.5 – 0.5
